CASE
Occupied (Okkupert) is a Norwegian political thriller series based on an original idea by Jo Nesbø, co-created with Karianne Lund and Erik Skjoldbjærg, that aired on TV 2 and Viasat series from 2015 to 2019. The series depicts a fictional near future in which, due to catastrophic environmental events, Norway's Prime Minister has stopped the country's oil and gas production. Russia, with support from the European Union, occupies Norway to restore production in response to a Europe-wide energy crisis.
With a budget of 90 million kr (US $11 million), the series is the most expensive Norwegian production to date and has been sold to the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Serbia, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, and Canada. It is also streamed by Netflix in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Ireland, the United Kingdom, India, Singapore, Canada, Belgium, Italy, South Africa and the Netherlands.
I got hired by and worked closely alongside GFX Supervisor Ulrik Skage at Yellow Bird Norway to aid with motion graphics design for Occupied Season 2. I made and delivered high quality user interfaces in Yellow Bird's production studio, including animations and stills, for TV and computer screen props to be filmed on set to reduce the cost of post-editing VFX. These graphics would later also be used on set in the third and final season of the series.
Occupied can be streamed on Netflix and Viaplay today.
